Warsaw - Around 15,000 pilgrims Christian / Catholic and tourists on Sunday (11/21/2010), gathered in the city Swiebodzin in western Poland in an inauguration of a statue of Jesus in the world
33 meters high statue (contemporary of Jesus) which is represented as a 33-year journey of Jesus to live in this world directly into the new icon Polish state.
"This monument is a tangible manifestation of our faith in Christ," said Bishop Stefan Regmunt who blessed the statue in a ceremony led by Cardinal Henryk Gulbinowicz.
The statue is the work of a former Roman Catholic priest, Sylwester Zawadzki, and expressed higher 3 meters from the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Brazil who stood at the top of the mountain, which overlooks the city of Rio de Janeiro.
With the steps that are made as high as 16 meters, total height of the statue of Christ the King of the Universe about 52 meters. While the total height of the statue of Jesus in Rio is about 38 meters.
"Christ the King of the Universe will welcome the tourists and Polish Catholics," said Father Zawadzki, who has repeatedly praised the monumental work, which stood on the steps made it as high as 16 meters.
However, TVN-24 report, the height of the statue is actually an attraction for tourists.
Christians and Catholics as well as the tourists come in droves to look for souvenirs and take pictures at the monument which is about 90 kilometers from the German border.
Development of a statue of Christ the King of the Universe is 100 percent funded through donations and the collection of the church and other supporters.
