A cave in the National Park Phong Nha-Ke Bang, Vietnam digadang-gadang as the world's largest cave. Why not, wide cavity reaches 150 meters and 200 meters high.
"The cave is 6.5 miles long but the end of the sockets currently are continuing with 45-meter-high wall of calcite that stop us," said Adam Spillane, one member of the British expedition team searching for the cave.
Cave, named Hang Son Doong means cave or mountain river was first discovered by a ranger named Ho Khanh in 1991. But nobody has ever explored because of the large and high wind pressure because of the underground river is very large.
A total of 13 people combined explorers from the University of Science Vietnam by British explorer finally held Caving Expedition 2009 went into the cave. They spent five days in mid-April and then to survey the cave path.
With a laser-based measuring instrument LaserAce 300, the team can measure the height and width of the ceiling cavity along the journey in hopes of making maps. Currently the data is still analyzed.
However, the results of the preliminary report indicates large main cavity reach double the current record for the largest cave.
So, Hang Son Doong probably the biggest cave in the world today.
